Principal Backend Engineer – Fully Remote (EU)

Salary: €160,000 – €215,000 base

A leading dating app are searching for a Principal Backend Engineer to support the development of their mobile application used by millions of users globally.

Your Role:

As Principal Backend Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and optimise backend systems for a large-scale mobile app, ensuring seamless scalability for millions of users. You will collaborate and sit across multiple engineering tribes and act as a advisor/SME for everything backend as they look to move towards technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop scalable backend systems for mobile applications, using Node.js.
  • Advise engineers on best practices and architectural decisions
  • Ensure app performance and scalability as the user base grows.
  • Mentor Senior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Expertise in Node.js with a proven professional track record.
  • Experience scaling apps from 100,000+ users to millions.
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture and system design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the EU without sponsorship.
