Android AOSP Engineer

Orbis is partnered with a leading Gen AI startup on an Android AOSP Platform Engineer opening.

This is a fulltime role based out of their LA office working on their core platform.

What You’ll Do:

• Customize the on-device OS and perform various performance benchmarks and optimizations.
• Implement UI and UX features for our hardware experience. This includes animations, interaction patterns, and text display, collaborating with our design team.
• Integrate ML features like speech recognition and synthesis, natural language processing, and computer vision into the OS.
• Collaborate with cloud team to implement and optimize comm protocols between our device and OS.

Requirements:

• Low-Level System Experience
• Experience with Android AOSP
• Mandarin Speaker – will be on meetings with APAC team

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with framework-level customization of AOSP
• Experience with Flutter
• Experience developing applications with a tablet form factor
• Experience collaborating with or reporting to interface designers, interaction designers, and product designers
• Experience with on-device audio processing (playback, capture, noise & echo cancellation)
• Experience with real-time communication protocols including WebSocket, WebRTC, etc.
