Trade Surveillance Assistant Vice President – Commodities – London – 12 Month FTC

We are working with a leading Commodities exchange seeking a Trade Surveillance AVP to join their Position Surveillance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining fair, transparent, and orderly markets by monitoring trading activity, ensuring compliance, and supporting regulatory change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Exchange Traded Derivative (ETD) and Over the Counter (OTC) positions to identify potential market abuse, disorderly trading, or risk of market distortion.
  • Support the implementation of regulatory changes, including readiness for the transfer of Position Limits responsibilities under FCA’s PS25/1.
  • Collaborate on system changes, market communications, and documentation to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee large positions through accountability processes, engaging directly with market participants where necessary.
  • Contribute to the calculation, issuance, and monitoring of lending rules, data governance, and publication of market reports.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission of position data by members.

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience in market surveillance, risk, or regulatory oversight within financial markets.
  • Strong experience working on various projects (must have).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trading and position data.
  • Knowledge of ETD and OTC derivatives is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with UK or EU market regulation, ideally including position limits frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both internal stakeholders and external market participants.
