This young, early-stage start-up challenger are currently looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to join their small team and help drive the business forwards.

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with founding/small start-up experience to take that next step into an exciting position as a Staff Engineer/Technical Lead with a very well-run and ambitious organisation in an innovative, exciting space.

About the Technical Lead (Software Engineer) Vacancy:

You will be a hands-on builder and a technical leader owning large initiatives that span multiple engineers and collaborating closely with product managers and operations experts.

This role is designed with growth in mind: you will demonstrate leadership through execution, collaboration, and mentorship, with the opportunity to grow into an Engineering Manager role as the team grows in the future.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive Projects: Lead the technical execution of large, cross-functional engineering projects involving multiple other engineers on your team.
  • Leverage AI: Apply AI/ML techniques to enhance scheduling intelligence, streamline workflows, and surface actionable insights for staff.
  • Architect Solutions: Contribute to system design decisions to ensure our platform is scalable, maintainable, and performant.
  • Collaborate Deeply: Partner with Product, Ops, and Customer teams to turn user needs into elegant, impactful solutions.
  • Maintain Quality: Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code. Support team productivity through code reviews and best practices.

Ideal Requirements for the Technical Lead (Software Engineer) Vacancy:

Startup Energy: You thrive in fast-paced environments, manage ambiguity well, and focus on what moves the needle.

Full-Stack Proficiency: You are re comfortable across the stack and ideally experienced with:

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, Vite
  • Backend: Node.js, NestJS, TypeORM
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure: AWS or similar cloud infrastructure

Stack is flexible but must have some JavaScript experience

Builder’s Mindset: You love turning ideas into software and iterating fast based on feedback, and can balance your own contributions with unblocking others on your team.

Product Intuition: You think like a user, making tradeoffs that prioritize usability and real-world impact.

Strong Communicator: You explain complex ideas clearly and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Has led larger technical projects before but likely not managed people formally.

Expected to:

  • Execute on own work.
  • Provide guidance and unblock team members.
  • Partner with PM to define sprint scope, capacity, and delivery.
