A well-funded technology company is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Distributed Systems to join its core engineering team. This is a fully remote position, with optional access to offices in New York City (currently available) and San Francisco (opening soon).

You will work on complex distributed systems at scale, helping to architect and implement infrastructure and backend systems that power critical services. As a senior engineer, you’ll play a key role in technical direction, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build scalable distributed systems and backend infrastructure

  • Lead critical projects from design through to production deployment

  • Collaborate with product and platform teams on technical strategy and execution

  • Drive best practices in system design, performance, and reliability

  • Contribute to engineering culture and help mentor junior developers

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in distributed systems

  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Go, Rust, Java, or similar)

  • Track record of delivering high-impact systems at scale

  • Experience in cloud environments and containerised architecture

  • Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams
