About the Company

This company is building developer-first infrastructure that enables teams to securely handle sensitive data without exposing it internally.

The platform allows engineering teams to tokenise, process, and operate on highly sensitive data (e.g. payments, PII) while maintaining compliance across modern applications.

Customers range from high-growth startups to large enterprises across fintech, healthcare, and other regulated industries, where security, compliance, and developer velocity are all mission-critical.

What Sets This Role Apart

Foundational hire:

Join as an early Solutions Engineer in NYC, helping define how technical sales and customer implementation are run as the GTM team scales.

Deeply technical sales motion:

This is not demo-led selling. You’ll work directly with engineers, leading API walkthroughs, architecture discussions, and integration design.

Developer-first product:

You’ll engage with highly technical users building real systems, not just business stakeholders, giving you exposure to modern API, security, and payments architectures.

High product influence:

Act as the bridge between customers and product, shaping how the platform evolves based on real-world implementation challenges.

About the Role

As a Solutions Engineer, you will own the technical validation layer of the sales process, working closely with Account Executives and engineering teams to drive adoption of the platform.

You’ll operate across both pre-sales and post-sales, helping prospects understand how the product integrates into their systems and ensuring successful implementation once deals close.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and GTM, requiring strong technical depth, customer empathy, and the ability to translate complex systems into clear solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Technical Ownership

  • Lead technical discovery and architecture discussions with engineers, CTOs, and technical stakeholders
  • Walk customers through API design, authentication, and integration patterns
  • Design end-to-end data flows across payments and sensitive data handling (e.g. tokenisation, 3DS, network tokens)
  • Act as the technical expert during evaluations, answering implementation and security-related questions

Post-Sales Implementation & Support

  • Partner with customer engineering teams to support integration and onboarding
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and act as the primary point of contact during implementation
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to resolve deeper technical challenges

Product & Sales Enablement

  • Translate customer needs and friction points into product feedback and priorities
  • Enable the sales team on technical positioning, objections, and solution design
  • Contribute to shaping how the platform evolves across payments and data security use cases

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–6+ years as a Solutions Engineer or engineer in a customer-facing role
  • Strong technical foundation across APIs (REST, auth, webhooks) and system architecture
  • Ability to lead technical discovery and independently run solution validation with customers
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams and understanding developer workflows
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex systems to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High ownership mindset with a focus on long-term customer success

Nice to Have

  • Experience in payments infrastructure (card flows, PSPs, tokenisation, 3DS)
  • Familiarity with security, cryptography, or handling sensitive data
  • Background in developer-first platforms (e.g. Stripe, Twilio, Segment, Plaid)
  • Startup experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments

Why This Role Matters

You will play a critical role in defining how companies secure and operationalise sensitive data without slowing down product development.

Your work will directly impact how engineering teams build compliant, scalable systems in industries where trust, security, and performance are non-negotiable.

At Orbis Group, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. Research indicates that candidates, especially from underrepresented backgrounds, often hesitate to apply for jobs if they don't meet every qualification.

If you're excited about a role but don't perfectly align with every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Your unique skills and experiences may be the perfect fit for the job or other opportunities that arise.
