Software Engineer – Data Platform

Fintech Unicorn

About the Company:

Join a fintech unicorn that’s revolutionizing how fintechs fight fraud and manage identity risk. Our client processes over 1 million identity decisions daily, protecting 600+ banks, credit unions, and fintechs globally from increasingly sophisticated fraud attacks.

As fraud evolves with AI-powered attacks and synthetic identities, they’re building the next generation of their data infrastructure to handle massive scale, real-time decisioning, and complex data orchestration across global markets.

The Opportunity:

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Data Platform Engineer to architect and build a greenfield centralized data platform that will become the backbone of our client’s fraud prevention ecosystem. This is a rare opportunity to work alongside a Data Platform SME and shape the technical foundation that powers real-time fraud detection for hundreds of financial institutions processing billions in transactions.

You’ll be instrumental in designing a platform that ingests, transforms, and analyzes massive volumes of identity and transaction data, enabling machine learning models to detect fraud patterns, compliance teams to monitor suspicious activity, and product teams to build next-generation risk decisioning tools.

What You’ll Build:

As a core member of the Data Platform team, you’ll:

  • Design the architecture for a high-throughput data platform handling millions of daily identity verification events, real-time fraud signals, and historical pattern analysis
  • Build scalable data pipelines that orchestrate information from 200+ third-party data sources (credit bureaus, identity providers, document verification services) and transform it for ML models and analytics
  • Create the data infrastructure that powers AI-driven fraud detection, enabling the platform to identify emerging attack patterns and provide actionable intelligence to financial institutions
  • Own technical strategy alongside the Data Platform Lead, your decisions will shape how the platform scales from processing millions to potentially billions of decisions

What’s required from you to apply?

  • 4+ years building production data platforms at scale, ideally in AWS environments.
  • Deep expertise in ETL/ELT patterns and data pipeline orchestration
  • Distributed systems knowledge, you understand data partitioning, eventual consistency, and designing for fault tolerance
  • Terraform expertise

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in fintech, fraud detection, or Series A/B/C scale-ups.
  • Background with real-time streaming architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink)
  • Familiarity with data security and privacy requirements in regulated industries
  • Understanding of ML infrastructure and supporting data science teams

Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary: $180,000 – $225,000 (commensurate with experience)

Equity: Meaningful stock options in a high-growth fintech unicorn

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA options
  • 401(k) with 100% company match up to 4%
  • Generous parental leave (up to 16 weeks for eligible parents)
  • Unlimited PTO policy (with encouraged usage)
  • Professional development and well-being stipends
  • Hybrid work flexibility (in-office collaboration balanced with remote work)
