Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Generative AI / Healthtech

Location = Hybrid from San Francisco HQ

Salary = $150,000 – $250,000 + Equity & Benefits

The organisation is rethinking how the entire revenue cycle works – building tools that let medical coders and billers operate with 10x–100x efficiency, freeing up clinicians to focus on patient care.

As a senior or staff-level engineer, you’ll take ownership of core systems and shape the architecture behind these AI-powered products. You’ll be joining a small, mission-driven team where engineers contribute across the product lifecycle – from ideation to deployment – and where real-world outcomes matter more than shiny methods.

What You’ll Do:

• Own projects end-to-end: from product ideation to delivery and deployment
• Build and scale backend systems and microservices
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define product priorities and technical direction
• Contribute to the design and implementation of generative AI-driven features
• Help shape team culture, engineering standards, and long-term architecture

Tech Environment:

You’ll work primarily with Python and modern backend frameworks, and ideally have some exposure to tools like Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS. Interest or experience in LLMs or distributed systems is a strong plus, but curiosity and drive matter more than any one tool.

What They’re Looking For:

• 4+ years’ professional software development experience
• Fluency in at least one backend language (Python, Node.js, Java, etc.)
• Comfort with distributed systems and cloud-based architecture
• Clear communicator who collaborates well with product, ops, and engineering
• Hands-on, mission-aligned, and excited to build in the real (messy) world of healthcare
