Orbis is partnered with a mission-driven health tech start-up tackling one of the biggest inefficiencies in healthcare today: administrative overload. Their platform enables frontline healthcare providers to focus more on patient care and less on paperwork. They are now looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join their NYC-based team. This is a high-impact role with ownership across the stack and the opportunity to build reliable, scalable systems that deliver real-world impact.

The Role

The successful candidate will take on a senior engineering position within a collaborative team environment. Working across the stack, the engineer will play a crucial role in designing systems that enhance usability, performance, and scalability of the platform. The position is ideally suited to engineers who enjoy product-focused development in mission-led environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy scalable backend and frontend systems

• Lead architecture discussions to improve performance and maintainability

• Collaborate closely with product and clinical teams to deliver impactful features

• Optimise workflows for system speed, uptime, and reliability

• Implement robust monitoring, logging, and testing strategies to support production stability

Key Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering across backend (Go, Python, or Java) and frontend (React + TypeScript)

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, system design principles, and SQL/NoSQL database architecture

• A collaborative, product-led mindset with the ability to lead technical projects and mentor peers

• Bonus points for familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure or tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Spark

• Prior experience in healthcare or regulated industries is advantageous

Working Environment

This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid working model. The team operates in a fast-paced, collaborative culture with a strong mission focus. Engineers are given high ownership and work closely with product and domain experts to solve meaningful problems.
