New Job: Senior Software Engineer – AI/Health Tech

Orbis is partnered with a mission-driven health tech start-up tackling one of the biggest inefficiencies in healthcare today: administrative overload. Their platform enables frontline healthcare providers to focus more on patient care and less on paperwork. They are now looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to join their NYC-based team. This is a high-impact role with ownership across the stack and the opportunity to build reliable, scalable systems that deliver real-world impact.
The Role
The successful candidate will take on a senior engineering position within a collaborative team environment. Working across the stack, the engineer will play a crucial role in designing systems that enhance usability, performance, and scalability of the platform. The position is ideally suited to engineers who enjoy product-focused development in mission-led environments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deploy scalable backend and frontend systems
Lead architecture discussions to improve performance and maintainability
Collaborate closely with product and clinical teams to deliver impactful features
Optimise workflows for system speed, uptime, and reliability
Implement robust monitoring, logging, and testing strategies to support production stability
Key Requirements
4+ years of professional experience in software engineering across backend (Go, Python, or Java) and frontend (React + TypeScript)
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, system design principles, and SQL/NoSQL database architecture
A collaborative, product-led mindset with the ability to lead technical projects and mentor peers
Bonus points for familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure or tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Spark
Prior experience in healthcare or regulated industries is advantageous
Working Environment
This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid working model. The team operates in a fast-paced, collaborative culture with a strong mission focus. Engineers are given high ownership and work closely with product and domain experts to solve meaningful problems.
