New Job: Senior/Lead Go Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in-office)

Orbis has partnered with a global media and data platform at the forefront of the digital asset space. This firm is seeking a Senior or Lead Go Engineer to join their London-based engineering team. This is a high-impact, hands-on opportunity to develop scalable systems that deliver real-time cryptocurrency and financial market data, powering the next generation of investment and financial platforms.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in building and optimising infrastructure to process and distribute high-volume, real-time data. This includes leading architectural decisions, contributing to mission-critical backend services, and collaborating across product, data, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services in Go
Lead technical direction on key projects, focusing on architecture, maintainability, and performance
Integrate external data sources and APIs into a unified real-time data platform
Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless systems integration
Maintain high-quality engineering standards through documentation and code reviews
Develop robust test coverage (unit, integration, E2E)
Key Requirements
Extensive experience building high-throughput, scalable systems
Expert-level proficiency in Go (Golang) and clean, maintainable code practices
Proficiency with PostgreSQL and Redis, or similar database technologies
Strong understanding of performance tuning, observability, and reliability best practices
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
Nice to Have
Experience with websocket services and real-time APIs
Familiarity with stream-based data tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
Knowledge of crypto, blockchain, or traditional financial markets
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Working Environment
This is a hybrid position based in central London, with a minimum of three days per week in the office. The team fosters a collaborative environment across engineering, product, and data disciplines.
