Senior Data Platform Engineer – Fintech scale-up

New York City – Hybrid (2x days per week in office)

Up to ~$230,000 base + equity

A fast-growing fintech is rebuilding its core data foundation and hiring a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help design and build the next-generation platform that powers identity, risk, and compliance decisions across financial products.

This is an early-team role where you’ll work on high-volume, real-time data systems and have meaningful ownership across the platform.

What you’ll work on

• Design and build streaming and batch data pipelines
• Develop internal data services and platform components
• Build a self-service data layer used by engineering, product, and GTM teams
• Improve reliability, observability, and data quality across systems
• Make architecture and tooling decisions as the platform scales
• Contribute to shaping the data platform function as it grows

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience building data platforms or large-scale data infrastructure
• Background in distributed systems and real-time/streaming workloads
• Expertise in ETL/ELT flows and data ingestion patterns
• Experience with technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, Airflow, or similar
• Ability to design scalable pipelines and internal data services
• Comfortable in early-stage, high-ownership environments
