Senior Backend Engineer (PHP / Python) – Sports/Gaming scale-up – Remote (Canada)

💰 ~$150,000 CAD base (Senior) / ~$135,000 CAD base (Mid-level) + significant equity

I’m working with a fast-growing real-money gaming platform with over 1M users across North America. Their product combines sportsbook, fantasy picks and interactive gaming into a single consumer platform.

They’re hiring Backend Engineers to join the team building the core systems behind the betting platform. These roles sit across the Prediction and Sportsbook teams, working on the services and business logic that power the product.

What you’ll be doing

• Building and maintaining backend services that power the core betting platform

• Developing product features and backend logic used by a large and growing user base

• Working with product and engineering teams to design and ship new capabilities

• Improving reliability, performance and scalability across backend systems

• Contributing to the evolution of the backend architecture as the platform grows

Tech stack

• PHP (Laravel)

• Python

• SQL databases

• Cloud infrastructure

• Modern backend development practices

What they’re looking for

• 4–7 years backend engineering experience (or more of course)

• Strong experience with PHP/Python

• Experience working on production backend systems

• Comfortable building product features in a fast-moving environment

• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills

Compensation

• up to ~$150,000 CAD base (Senior level)

• up to ~$135,000 CAD base (Mid-level)

• Significant Equity and full benefits

• Fully remote within Canada
