Machine Learning Engineer | Build AI to unlock real-world intelligence

NYC or DC (Hybrid, 1–2 days/wk) | $200–250k + strong equity

This well-funded AI start-up is using machine learning to transform how U.S. defence and intelligence teams access and share information – turning fragmented, siloed data into secure, real-time intelligence.

They’re backed by $7M in Seed funding and looking for their first dedicated ML engineer to take ownership of the ML stack and build production-grade systems from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own the ML stack: LLM-driven services, embedding search, inference pipelines
  • Design secure APIs and deploy end-to-end ML systems
  • Improve existing ETL flows and vector storage infrastructure
  • Operate independently in a tight-knit, high-conviction founding team

You might be a fit if you…

  • Have deployed ML/LLM systems in production
  • Are strong in Python (bonus: Go/C) and have infra chops (K8s, AWS, Docker)
  • Are product-minded and thrive in ambiguous, early-stage environments
  • Care about real-world impact in defence, security, or intelligence contexts

Why Join

  • $7M Seed raised recently
  • High-impact greenfield role reporting to the CEO
  • Meaningful equity + top-tier salary
  • Real-world technical challenge with national importance
  • Culture: tight, mission-driven, technical
