Lead / Staff Security Engineer

London | Hybrid – 3 days

We’re working with a scaling technology company building modern infrastructure products used by engineering teams operating in highly sensitive and high-trust environments.

The business sits in a genuinely interesting space between developer tooling, cloud infrastructure and secure systems, with a strong engineering culture and a big focus on building products properly from the ground up.

They’re now looking to hire a senior security leader to help shape and scale security engineering across the organisation as the platform and customer footprint continue to grow.

The Role

This is not a governance-heavy or purely compliance-focused security position. The role sits very closely with engineering, infrastructure and product teams, helping embed security into the core of how systems are designed and built.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the overall security engineering strategy.
  • Partnering with software and infrastructure teams on secure architecture and engineering practices.
  • Improving detection, monitoring and incident response capabilities.
  • Building scalable approaches around cloud security, automation and internal tooling.
  • Helping mature security processes in a fast-moving engineering environment.
  • Acting as a senior technical voice internally across security best practices and risk management.

What They’re Looking For:

They’re open-minded on background, but they’ll likely be interested in people who have:

  • Strong hands-on security engineering experience.
  • Experience operating within modern cloud-native environments.
  • Knowledge across infrastructure, application and cloud security.
  • A strong engineering mindset with an interest in automation and tooling.
  • Experience working in fast-paced product or platform-led technology businesses.
  • The ability to balance technical depth with leadership and communication.

Environment:

You’d be joining a collaborative, engineering-led team working on technically complex systems where security is seen as a core product and engineering function rather than a separate department.

The company is still at a size where you can have genuine influence, ownership and visibility whilst working on problems around scale, infrastructure and secure systems design.

At Orbis Group, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. Research indicates that candidates, especially from underrepresented backgrounds, often hesitate to apply for jobs if they don't meet every qualification.

If you're excited about a role but don't perfectly align with every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Your unique skills and experiences may be the perfect fit for the job or other opportunities that arise.
