Head of Programme Management (Transitions) -Pensions – London – Hybrid

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Origination function as Head of Transition Programme Management. This is a newly created role with high visibility and impact, responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex, client-facing transition programmes.

You will play a critical role in shaping and overseeing programme delivery frameworks, ensuring operational excellence, strong governance, and consistent client outcomes. Working across a wide range of internal teams and external partners, you will drive efficiency, mitigate risk, and deliver value across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Programme Leadership

  • Lead a portfolio of concurrent, large-scale client transition projects
  • Ensure alignment, coordination, and successful delivery across all workstreams

Governance & Delivery Excellence

  • Establish and maintain robust programme governance, reporting, and controls
  • Drive best practices in project management, standards, and methodologies

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple functions
  • Act as a key escalation point, ensuring a responsive and high-quality client experience

Planning & Financial Management

  • Oversee programme planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Manage multi-million-pound budgets, including forecasting and cost control

Risk & Issue Management

  • Proactively identify, manage, and resolve risks, issues, and dependencies

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of programme and project professionals
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and delivery excellence

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure deliverables meet high standards of quality and client satisfaction
  • Drive innovation, automation, and process improvements

What They’re Looking For

Experience

  • Proven track record delivering complex, large-scale programmes within insurance or financial services
  • Experience managing significant budgets and delivering measurable business outcomes
  • Strong background in client onboarding or transition programmes
  • Demonstrated success working with executive stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Experience implementing governance frameworks and risk management processes
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams

Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of programme and project management methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of insurance operations and transition processes
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, and risk frameworks
  • Understanding of change management in complex environments
  • Exceptional leadership and people management capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at senior levels
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
