Head of Data Management – AI-Driven Transformation | Financial Services | London (Hybrid)

A leading global investment firm are seeking a Head of Data Management to spearhead the design, governance, and operational delivery of its enterprise data landscape in support of a transformative AI and analytics strategy.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity at the intersection of data, technology, and innovation. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of strategic vision and operational excellence—leading data governance, architecture, market data, and operations to power advanced analytics and AI across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Data Leadership

• Define and execute an enterprise-wide data strategy aligned to AI/ML priorities.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align data capabilities with innovation goals.

Data Governance & Quality

• Build and lead robust data governance frameworks, policies, and metadata practices.
• Drive enterprise data quality standards including accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and enable AI transparency through data lineage and oversight.

Market Data Management

• Own the strategy and execution for managing external market data feeds (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, MSCI).
• Oversee vendor relationships, budget management, and contract optimization.
• Align market data services with investment research and modelling requirements.

Operational Data Excellence

• Lead data ingestion, validation, exception handling, and escalation across the data supply chain.
• Manage security master and reference data processes across all asset classes.
• Design scalable, automated workflows to ensure timely and accurate delivery of business-critical data.

Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure

• Define a modern, scalable data architecture to support AI and operational reporting.
• Partner with engineering to build cloud-native, real-time data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Promote best practices in data storage, access, security, and performance.

Risk, Privacy & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with global data regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and internal risk controls.
• Implement privacy safeguards, data retention policies, and audit readiness processes.

Leadership & Culture

• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team across data governance, operations, and engineering.
• Drive a data-first culture across the organization through advocacy and education.
• Act as a strategic partner to executive teams, technology leaders, and data science groups.

About You

• 10+ years’ experience in enterprise data management, governance, or investment operations.
• Deep familiarity with security master/reference data, market data workflows, and vendor management.
• Strong knowledge of the modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Fivetran, etc.).
• Proven ability to lead data for advanced analytics, AI/ML, and regulatory initiatives.
• Experience in financial services, asset management, or fintech is strongly preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and cultural change leadership capabilities.
