Hardware Operations Lead
Data Center Operations
Buffalo, NY
$150,000 to $200,000 base salary
Timing matters with roles like this!
About the company:
The company you’d be joining has recently secured a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure programme, driving rapid expansion across large-scale data center operations in the US. Significant investment is committed, build activity is moving quickly, and teams joining now will have real ownership during a critical growth phase.
About the role:
As a Hardware Operations Lead, you’ll be a senior, hands-on presence inside hyperscale data centers supporting high-density, GPU-based server environments. This is not a steady-state operations role, it’s a build and scale phase, where reliability, execution, and judgement on the ground genuinely matter.
You’ll take ownership of on-site hardware operations end to end, installing, deploying, and supporting server and network infrastructure at scale. You’ll act as the first responder for incidents, coordinating closely with remote engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues efficiently. Day to day, you’ll be troubleshooting servers, networking, cabling, and components, maintaining asset accuracy, and supporting SLAs. You’ll also work closely with vendors, partner teams, and internal stakeholders as new capacity comes online.
About you:
This role requires direct, hands-on experience working with GPU servers, including platforms such as H100, B200, and GB200, or equivalent. You should be comfortable operating and troubleshooting hardware in high-density environments where power, thermals, and uptime are critical.
Strong fundamentals across server hardware troubleshooting (POST, BIOS, PXE, IPMI, BMC), networking basics (TCP/IP, Ethernet, copper and fiber cabling), and Linux administration are essential. Experience supporting large programs, working with vendors, or operating in complex, fast-moving environments will be a strong advantage.
This role suits someone who is calm under pressure, highly organised, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous, high-impact situations. Clear communication matters, you’ll often be the on-site point of coordination when incidents occur.
On Offer:
In return, the company offers a competitive total compensation package including salary and equity, comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, a retirement or pension plan aligned with local norms, and generous PTO. More importantly, you’ll be joining during a rare build phase, with the opportunity to help shape how large-scale data center operations are run long term.
If you want to be close to the hardware layer, working hands-on with modern GPU infrastructure at scale, this is a role worth exploring. Apply here or reach out for a confidential conversation.
