A rapidly scaling fintech, backed by top-tier investors and trusted by over 600 global financial institutions, is seeking a Founding Data Engineer to lead the build of a next-generation data platform from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the foundational data infrastructure of a high-growth business. You’ll define the vision, architecture, and technical strategy for a platform that enables real-time insights, smarter decision-making, and robust data services across all business functions.

What You’ll Do:

• Define and own the vision for a unified, scalable data platform

• Build performant data pipelines for batch, streaming, and real-time workloads

• Champion best-in-class data engineering practices and tooling

• Ensure data is accessible, secure, and trustworthy across the organisation

• Drive data governance, compliance, and security frameworks

• Partner with product and engineering leaders to shape the roadmap

• Hire, mentor, and scale a high-performing data engineering team

What We’re Looking For:

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on platform or infrastructure

• Deep expertise in cloud data architectures, distributed systems, and ETL/ELT design

• Proven track record building scalable, fault-tolerant data systems

• Strong understanding of trade-offs in data performance, scalability, and flexibility

• A business-minded engineer who thrives in high-ownership environments

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across teams and functions

Bonus Points For:

• Experience designing self-service data tools for internal and/or external users

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures or streaming data platforms

• Hands-on work with internal tools like Retool or similar platforms
