Forward Deployed Engineer — Engineering AGI

Remote — US or Canada

Salary: ~$200K base + very significant early-stage equity

About the Company

We’re partnered with a seed-stage AI company building one of the most ambitious applications of artificial intelligence today: an engineering AGI designed to solve real-world physical engineering problems.

Their core product acts as an AI engineer embedded inside technical teams – capable of understanding engineering documentation, designing systems, running simulations, integrating with engineering tools, and producing build-ready outputs.

This is not an LLM wrapper or productivity layer. The focus is applied AI that participates directly in engineering workflows across industries like data center infrastructure, automotive systems, and industrial engineering.

  • $25M seed funding
  • Backed by leading AI investors and operators from OpenAI, DeepMind, and top engineering organizations
  • Series A expected soon, with significant growth planned

The Role

Forward Deployed Engineers own the technical delivery of customer deployments – bridging cutting-edge AI capabilities with real-world engineering environments.

You’ll work directly with customers to understand complex problems, design integrations, deploy production systems, and help shape how engineering AGI evolves in practice. This is a high-ownership role with strong influence on both customer outcomes and core product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical delivery across the full lifecycle (discovery → architecture → deployment → iteration)
  • Build integrations connecting AI systems with engineering tools, workflows, and data sources
  • Deploy and refine AI systems in production environments
  • Translate complex engineering challenges into scalable AI solutions
  • Troubleshoot live deployments and drive continuous improvements
  • Collaborate closely with AI researchers and engineering teams to evolve the product

What They’re Looking For

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals (Python preferred, language flexibility OK)
  • Experience shipping data-driven or AI systems into production
  • Ability to rapidly integrate disparate systems
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and technical leaders
  • Builder mindset — thrives in ambiguity and fast-moving environments

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to physical engineering domains (mechanical, aerospace, electrical, physics, etc.)
  • Experience with containerized AI services
  • Work in regulated or safety-critical environments
  • Simulation, modeling, or hardware-adjacent experience

Why This Role

  • Work on frontier applied AI solving real-world engineering problems
  • High ownership with meaningful equity upside pre-Series A
  • Direct influence on product direction and customer outcomes
  • Remote-first environment with optional Bay Area collaboration
  • Fast hiring process (often completed within one week)

Compensation

  • Base salary: ~$200K (flex)
  • Very significant equity component
  • Healthcare, dental, vision
  • 401k with employer matching
  • Unlimited PTO
