Facilities/IT Consultant (with an IT focus) – Full time onsite (Farnborough) – Outside IR35

Our defence client are looking for an experienced Facilities/IT Service Support Consultant to join their team on a 12-month contract. This role sits at the heart of service delivery acting as the link between the business and the Service Desk function.

The Role

This isn’t a traditional 1st-line role, it’s a hybrid position combining facilities management, ticket oversight, and hands-on IT support (Hardware over software). You’ll act as the bridge between the end-users and the support function to ensure tickets are handled efficiently, escalations are managed properly with business expectations being met.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as the first point of contact between users and the Service Desk
• Hands-on low-level IT troubleshooting and support
• Ticket management: prioritisation, triage, follow-up and escalation
• Facilities management experience (think desk moves, hardware troubleshooting, operation improvements)
• Supporting continual service improvement across the service desk
• Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, tooling, processes, or user experience
• Building strong working relationships with users and internal technical teams

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in IT support, service desk operations, or similar
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Someone proactive who can spot gaps, inefficiencies, or service opportunities
• Ability to work onsite across in the Farnborough area
• A calm and confident personality, comfortable interacting with users at all levels
