Job Title: Backend AI Engineer

Location: Remote EU

Contract Type: 3-6 month Contract + extensions

Hourly Rate: Flexible depending on experience

Start Date: Asap – Immediately available

I have been retained by one of the world’s largest mapping & navigation companies who are currently seeking a Backend Engineer for an initial 3-6 month freelance contract (+ extensions).

They operate one of the world’s most exciting AI functions focussed on building and integrating multi-agent solution POCs all to do with maps and map visualisation. The key goal here is to design & build scalable backend services and APIs that enable agent-based AI products to operate reliably at scale.

Key requirements:

• Strong experience in backend development, with a focus on API development & designing at scale
• Must have expereince working with AI agents
• Proficiency in Python (primary) and/or Kotlin
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and cloud deployment
• Hands-on experience with the Azure ecosystem (e.g., Azure DevOps, AKS, Functions, networking, monitoring)
